New Soundboard Installation

After the interior of the piano is gutted, the soundboard is exposed.

The metal harp is hoisted out of the piano exposing the soundboard.

There are more than a dozen cracks and no crown in this old soundboard.

Next the old soundboard & ribs are carefully removed from the inside of the piano.

Now that the inner rim is exposed any remaining old glue is carefully removed.

Then a new set of ribs are manufactured and dry fitted into the original slots to insure the proper length, width and height.

The new soundboard and ribs are crowned, glued, and doweled together in the press.

The new soundboard and ribs are now glued and clamped back into the piano.

The finished product...

The new soundboard, ribs, and soundboard decal are all installed and sealed with varnish.
